SALTWATER DRAW NEW BLOOD
Purple Turtle favourites Saltwater Sun have released a new single ‘Blood’. The five piece from Reading- have released their new single and we couldn’t be more-proud!
The new single which is full of shimmering guitar chords and souring soundscape the quintet has stayed loyal to their signature sound. Though on the surface the song seems to be full of indie-pop goodness- beneath the surface captures Jen’s grief of the death of her father- the lyrics being about hope and comfort in love, death, grief and everything in between.
“Since the death of my father, I’ve come to know joy as sorrow-tinged throughout each altering epoch and mundane happiness in my life. With age, I mourn less for my loss and more for his, and so endeavour to carry his memory so that he might live on through me. It’s deeply personal, yet completely universal; Blood is about finding solace in the idea that we might transcend death through lineage.”
‘Blood’ was #2 on the hype machine chart and was premiered by Huw Stephens on BBC radio 1. It was also added to New Music Friday, All New Indie, The Indie List, Hot New Bands (for which they were the cover photo) New Alternative, Indie Alternative Everything and Rock Idag editorial playlists on Spotify.
Blood which is taken from a forthcoming EP due for April release with the promise of the band playing a multitude of festivals in 2019.
