Tues 23rd May – Heavy Pop presents Yonaka + Gurr – co-headline tour plus guests
Entry: Free. 18+. 8 pm
“Dark indie pop with a deliciously melodic edge” CLASH
Brighton-based, Yonaka like to “hang their songs on a knife edge”. They are a fully-fledged pop outfit with blissfully dark pristine hooks, chunky guitar parts and speaker-blowing noise. 2016 has already seen the highly anticipated release of Yonaka’s debut single ‘Ignorance’ and this success is set to continue with the band supporting Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes on tour plus festival appearances at Reading & Leeds, The Great Escape and Live at Leeds.
“fizzing, punky guitar pop at every turn” GUARDIAN
Gurr is a garage pop band from Berlin that sounds like a trashy 60s girl group meshed with poppy vocals in two voices and a flavor of eeriness dug out from the deep darkness that is the Berlin rock n roll bar’s restroom at 5 am.
